A new era is dawning for the French brand FACE À FACE, which has delved into the heart of its research for this unique collection: sculpting color! The French brand paves the way for fundamental and experimental research on the power and expression of color, its magic, its evocation, and its interpretation that invokes the feelings we hold deep down.

They use a new palette, formed from an aesthetic that is both milky, digital, and futuristic. It’s the lightness of a morning, cerulean blue-greys coexist with transparent sky blues, candy pinks illuminate dark reds, against ivory whites which are softer than ever. These milky pastels blend with intense colors that radiate strongly. Fuchsia against crystal, ultraviolet crossed with burnt oranges… The intertwining of shades is at the rendezvous!

The emanation of color is found throughout the collection, through small geometric elements that circulate in the concepts - pixel, triangle, chevron - giving this collection its dreamy and digital aura.

New York City in the 1980’s was bustling with energy and creativity after near bankruptcy. Artists, designers, musicians, writers and well-known denizens restlessly roamed the fashionable urban streets. ROBERT MARC NYC saw an opportunity to make a name for itself and opened its first boutique on Columbus Avenue in 1981. Quickly recognized for its unique ability to bring both comfort and fashion to the eyewear industry, the brand decided to launch its first collection in 1999. Influenced by New York City and classic French savoir-faire, the true beauty of ROBERT MARC NYC frames is the marriage of style and fit.

For the new season, FACE À FACE designers continue to explore the Italian Memphis movement with four surprising and impertinent designs starring in this playful, poetic collection. It draws inspiration from the art movement that emerged in Italy from the 1980s, with the aim of reinventing it.

Each of these innovative designs is permeated by a rebellious energy, offering a new look. From the rainbow-shaped, sculpted curves of bold NOVVA to the supercharged energy of subtle and extravagant ASHOKA, this collection intends to reinvent reality and push its boundaries in sunglasses and spectacles that flirt with magic and the improbable.

The allusion to the Memphis movement is multiplied and expressed by a flamboyant palette: ultra-graphic materials contrasting with solid colours – enlivened by teasing confrontations designed as a game and a visual dialogue.

Are you ready for the MEMPHIS style of non-conformism with its shocking colours, patterns and sculptural volumes?

This season the FACE A FACE designers drew inspiration for this new collection from the radical MEMPHIS artistic movement of the 1980s which disrupted the minimalism of the time guided by their leader Ettore Sottsass.

With every model, one gesture, one energy: end tips shifted outward with MOVES, the projected eye with CLOUD, the construction of lines for EIFFEL... the impetus is precise with offsets creating dynamism and volume.

The nods to the MEMPHIS artistic movement multiply and fit within the colour palette: geometrised materials contrast with full vibrant colours – bringing to life playful clashes designed as a game and a visual dialogue.

State-of-the-art bonding and machining brought to serve these poetic forms. As Sottsass once said: “Design begins where rational processes end and those of magic start”.

COHERENT DESIGN

The clear design language at MYKITA starts with material integrity, emphasizing the most appealing properties of the materials we work with. Our product design is straightforward – seeing how something is built has become the most recognizable feature of MYKITA frames. The first collection featured an openly displayed spiral hinge, a mechanical solution that became an incidental styling element and a hallmark of MYKITA frames. This original patented hinge represents the guiding principle for design at MYKITA: the technical solution must also be aesthetic.

CULTIVATING THE INGREDIENTS

With a focus on challenging norms and creating new aesthetic impulses within eyewear, MYKITA pushes visible logos and conventional luxury codes into the background. Instead, significant research and development go into advancing our constructions, materials, and surfaces, which all contribute to the characteristic modernity of our frames. This extensive catalog of design ingredients enables the variety of styles in the collections, as well as the refined colour and surface compositions that set MYKITA glasses apart.

A CREATIVE COLLECTIVE

The MYKITA design team is a heterogenic group of product designers and technical engineers. This mix of people with experience in eyewear as well as designers and experts from other fields stimulates an interdisciplinary dialogue that provokes new perspectives on eyewear. Working predominately with prototypes, the team develops the product in a hands-on process centered on the wearer: every element of each eyewear model has been considered and thought-out down to the smallest detail.
